I'm Just a Girl Who Likes To Make Things
I strive to make One of a Kind Pieces for those who are One of a Kind.
My name is Lauren and I'm the artist/designer behind the madness of Lp's Jewelry. I've been creating jewelry off and on since I was a kid. I got really involved in my early 20s. I started off then with hemp and leather and while doing so discovered gemstones. I INSTANTLY fell in love with stones.
I joined an online social site called www.jewelrynetwork.org and that is where I found my inspirations and new motivation. I saw the work of Kristy Abner from Kristy's Kreations and was WOWED by her. She made me second guess uniformity and helped me to develop new color schemes which would eventually blossom into my strongest skill. I also came across the work of Amy Underwood of Sterling Lace Creations whose MIND BLOWINGLY GORGEOUS chainmaille techniques showed off some of the most beautiful pieces of stone I had seen. I didn't care much for labradorite until I saw it on one of her pieces. Having come across these women and their beautiful creations I dove into different techniques and attempted things outside the traditional stringing. I then ventured the web to see what else I was missing. What else could I learn? I can honestly say that I am still venturing and learning. That's the beauty of the jewelry world. There are always more techniques and materials to try out. It is ever-changing.
My work has been published throughout multiple magazines, mostly Bead Trends and Jewelry Affaire. You can click the tab above to see them. I have partaken in some wonderful online events such as Happy Mango's contests: "Bead Scarey" where I placed in their "Alternate winners" and the "Bead My Valentine" where I won the category of "Love Me Like a Rock". I've also been involved in a "Bead Soup" event via Lori Anderson's blog and am about to partake in a second one. (Lori has also published a BOOK showing off some of the designs of a bead soup event.)
My designs focus mainly on natural materials such as gemstones and pearls. I tie them together with Swarovski crystals and Czech glass. My dear friend and boyfriend make lampwork beads that I am just starting to get into. I find their designs to be quite inspiring and even breathtaking at times. They've both ventured into different styles and types of glass and I just can't WAIT to see where they go next.
Jewelry; however, is not my full time job it is my full time hobby and love. I spend a lot of time networking online and LOVE to meet new people in the crafty business. I also enjoy discussing tips, tricks and how-to's. I believe in working with my fellow crafters, not against them. If you have a question, inquiry or just want some advice, etc feel free to contact me ANY time, in ANY of my locations, or click the email icon on the top right of the page.
