FAQ/Policies
How soon is my order shipped?
After I have received your payment, and the payment has cleared, I will ship within 2 business days. I will contact you when I ship your order out.
Can I track my shipped items online?
Tracking depends on the type of mailing service used. I try to do all orders with free shipping via First Class Mail through the USPS. I print/ship from PayPal. PayPal always creates a tracking number for the package but USPS doesn't always update the information. If you want a "tracking" package, be sure to specify when checking out. Separate charges may apply.
What is your policy for custom orders?
This is a touchy subject. When it comes to custom orders it can be quite costly. Finding all the right materials, coming up with the right design, having the design approved, etc. As far as customs go I would prefer to simply RE-DO a previous design, just more to the customers' liking. For example, one may like a bracelet but prefer it with blue crystals instead of green pearls. That's an easy switch. But coming up with a custom order from scratch? That can be too much of a hassle and I really prefer NOT to do it. But it never hurts to ask. :-)
Will you do a jewelry party at my house?
I currently am not equipped to do a jewelry party but I am working on it!! I would love to get more involved like that and do a few events for people in the area. When I'm ready to tackle that mountain it will be posted!
What are the benefits of buying handmade?
The benefits are simple. I'm the kind of person who prefers solid metals as opposed to plated. This matters because some plated materials can fade over time and usually tarnish to a copper layer. This will leave you with a half silver (or gold) half copper piece. That really bothers me. Also, I prefer quality stones. They may not be AAA gem grade material but they are good enough! Outside of Gemstones, I use the HIGHEST quality of crystals available to beaders (Swarovski Crystal) and some of the most WELL made glass around, (From the Czech Republic). I also use lampwork from some very talented artists whose attention to detail and quality of material is unsurpassed.
Now tell me, Do you think any SINGLE department store takes ANY of that into account when purchasing their inventory? No not likely! Even some of those jewelry catalogs selling eighty dollar and a couple hundred dollar pieces have to find a way to mass produce their items in an affordable way for real profit. This usually means cutting out the quality when need be.
So what are the benefits? The benefits, at least through me, are that you are getting a quality made piece. You will know EXACTLY what type of metal is involved, what kind of stone is being used, whether the pearls are real, glass based, crystal based or fake resin, (which I don't use). You will have well developed technique behind every tool being used so that the metals aren't marred and the crystals aren't chipped. When you purchase from 'Lp's Jewelry' you're getting something unique to you. Something that not everyone is going to have. When you buy handmade you're buying something someone delicately put together instead of something that was mass produced in a factory. It's a creation someone treasures, designer and buyer alike. Not just some material item found on a shelf. It's art.
How did you get into jewelry making?
Well this is a little embarrassing but, every time I dated a boy in middle school I would make a little necklace with my inititals and his initials. Then I got over boys and would make one with mine and my best friend's initials. I would make friendship bracelets, then use the same design to make bookmarks. I fell off when I got into my teen years but once I got into my 20s I said I need a hobby and I wanted to learn hemp jewelry so I got back into designing. The hemp wasn't really selling so I tried my hands at gemstone and traditional jewelry. I grew to accessories like keychains and cell charms and now I can't stop. I also do dream catchers and am constantly looking for new techniques and items to try to make. Although there's just not enough time in the day for all that. The biggest most important thing is my perspective on my jewelry. It's my hobby, not my job! It's something I enjoy, so if I sell a piece then GREAT, if not, oh well, that won't stop me. I make pieces to make them, because my passion is in designing, not selling and if I can share my hobby and my items with the world or even a few individuals then I'm blessed!
I have some old beads (or pendants) laying around, can you use them in a piece for me?
This brings us back to the custom creation ordeal. I'd love to help you find use for an old piece or treasured memoir so feel free to contact me and we'll see what we can do. Again I prefer to re-do a previous design but in YOUR way. Working from scratch can be complicated because designer and consumer might not always agree on the design. There are times I can look at a piece and know exactly what I want to do with it and I do have a survey that can help us work together when doing a custom order. I don't prefer to do them but I will ALWAYS consider doing one when it comes to the satisfaction of my customers.
Thank You!
